AI Summit 2026: What Is Still Ahead, and Who It Is For

EX Future Summit · 15 September 2026

Two thirds of the AI summit 2026 calendar is already over. The events left from September to December, verified dates, and which job each one does.

AI Summit 2026: What Is Still Ahead, and Who It Is For

Most guides to the AI summit 2026 calendar were written in spring. One of the more careful ones lists 54 conferences, summits and research venues and was last reviewed on 9 June. By the time anyone searches the phrase in September, two thirds of those entries are in the past, and the reader is left scrolling through events they can no longer attend to find the handful they still can.

This is the calendar as it looks on 10 September 2026. What already happened, briefly. What is left, month by month, with the headline dates checked against the organisers' own pages. Then the more useful sort: which of the remaining events does which job, because a regulator, a buyer, a researcher and an investor should not be booking the same week.

The first two thirds of the year already happened

The year's most consequential gathering took place in February. The AI Impact Summit in New Delhi ran from 16 to 20 February, India's turn as host of the intergovernmental AI summit series. It closed with the adoption of the New Delhi Declaration, which broadened who sits at the table more than it bound anyone to anything. We have written separately about what the India AI Impact Summit actually changed once the delegations flew home.

The commercial circuit filled the spring and summer. The AI Summit Singapore ran inside ATx Enterprise from 20 to 22 May, and RAISE took over the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris on 8 and 9 July, an event built around capital strategy rather than product. In the same week the United Nations turned Geneva into the policy centre of the year: the Global Dialogue on AI Governance on 6 and 7 July, followed immediately by the seventh AI for Good Global Summit from 7 to 10 July, both at Palexpo.

If one of these was the event you meant, the recordings and outcome documents are what remain. Everything below is still bookable.

What is left, September to December

September

The month is crowded with policy. UNESCO's fourth Global Forum on the Ethics of AI runs from 14 to 17 September. GAIN, the Global AI Summit in Riyadh, follows from 15 to 17 September. London hosts the Responsible AI Summit from 21 to 23 September, and HumanX brings its European edition to Amsterdam from 22 to 24 September, all verified against organiser sites by a directory that carries no advertising. The month closes with The AI Conference in San Francisco, from 29 September to 1 October.

October

The AI Regulation Summit, now in its fourth year, opens October in London on the 1st, and the AI and Big Data Expo Europe fills Amsterdam on 20 and 21 October. Between them sits the largest European date of the autumn. World Summit AI returns to Amsterdam on 7 and 8 October 2026 for its tenth edition, with an agenda framed around AI safety, frontier announcements and founder stories.

November

Web Summit takes Lisbon from 9 to 12 November with its own AI programming inside a general technology conference. Boston hosts the AI in Healthcare and Pharma Summit on 18 and 19 November, and Vilnius closes the month with AI Summit Europe from 24 to 27 November. The EX Future Summit, which publishes this page, runs from 18 to 20 November; more on how it differs at the end.

December

The research year ends at NeurIPS, and this is where the spring guides go most visibly wrong. At least one widely shared 2026 top ten still places the conference at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. The organisers list something different: the fortieth NeurIPS has its main conference in Sydney from 6 to 12 December, with satellite events in Atlanta and Paris from 9 to 13 December. A researcher who booked a flight to Georgia on the strength of a listicle would be attending a satellite, which may be what they want, but should be a choice.

While NeurIPS is still running, the commercial year closes in New York. The same June calendar dates The AI Summit New York to 9 and 10 December. It is also a tenth edition, with ten content stages, a start-up and investor village, and more than 100 technology companies on the floor.

Sort them by the job, not the size

A list sorted by date answers when. It does not answer which. The better question is what you need to leave with, and the remaining calendar splits cleanly along that line.

If you write or apply policy

September is your month. The UNESCO ethics forum, the Responsible AI Summit and the AI Regulation Summit on 1 October are three different registers of the same conversation: intergovernmental, practitioner and compliance. Anyone drafting procurement rules should also read what sovereign AI actually means before sitting through a panel that uses the phrase loosely.

If you are buying

Go where the vendors are. The AI Summit New York and the AI and Big Data Expo Europe are built around exhibition floors, and that is their honest value: a day in which you can stress test ten suppliers against your own use case. Read the agenda for session titles that name a system or a failure, and apply the checks we set out on how to judge an AI business summit before you book, since the same logic transfers.

If you publish research

NeurIPS is the one date that matters, and the choice between Sydney and a satellite is now real. The applied summits can still be useful to researchers, but only if the programme puts you in front of people who fund or deploy work, not just people who applaud it.

If you are raising or investing

Web Summit is built to put startups and investors in the same halls, and it does so at scale. Scale is also the problem. A founder needs a handful of serious conversations, and at an event that size finding them is the work, not the bonus.

The summit between two islands

Notice what the four sorts above keep separate. Policy happens in one building, capital in another, research in a third. Very few events on this calendar put a funding pathway, a regulator and the researcher whose work the claim rests on in the same room, and that is the gap the EX Future Summit was designed around.

It runs from 18 to 20 November as a single continuous thirty hour broadcast moving between Las Palmas in the Canary Islands and Bali, twelve hours apart, so nobody is shut out by timezone. Online attendance is free for verified researchers, students and the EX community; the two in-person rooms are ticketed. Its nine program tracks include a dedicated Global Financial Raise track mapping venture capital, private equity, national grants and Horizon Europe, and eight hosted sessions exist for one purpose: matching universities with private partners across continents. The policy element is concrete rather than a panel. Bali Province's digital residency sandbox opens a cohort at the summit, with a ninety day residency, a policy pilot lane and access to municipal data.

This is a first edition. It claims no track record and no attendance figures, and it would be odd to trust one that did. What it claims is a structure, and the structure is testable on the day. For the broader argument about what an event of this kind owes the people who attend it, see what an AI innovation summit should produce.

FAQ

Is there a free way to attend an AI summit in 2026?

Yes, though rarely for the in-person rooms. Most commercial summits on this calendar sell tiered passes. The EX Future Summit offers free online attendance to verified researchers, students and members of the EX community across its full thirty hour broadcast in November, while its Las Palmas and Bali rooms are ticketed.

When do you have to register for NeurIPS 2026?

The early registration deadline is 30 October 2026, Anywhere on Earth. Paper authors hear back on 24 September, which leaves about five weeks to decide between the main conference in Sydney and the satellites in Atlanta or Paris before the early rate closes.

What is the difference between an AI summit and an AI research conference?

A summit is the applied, industry-facing end of the calendar, where practitioners, founders and enterprise teams talk about deployment. A research conference such as NeurIPS is organised around peer-reviewed papers. The two overlap in speakers, but a summit sells access to people and a research conference sells access to work that has survived review.

Will there be a global AI summit in 2027?

Yes. Switzerland is working with India and the UAE to host the next government summit in Geneva in 2027, with an agenda centred on international law, fundamental rights and giving smaller nations an active voice in AI policy. The UAE co-chairs in Geneva and hosts the following summit in 2028.
